I can’t journal because….

I’m not creative
TRUE or FALSE?
FALSE

Writing a journal entry doesn’t require creativity. It requires willingness to focus on one topic. it requires time to reflect on a topic. Finally,it requires effort to write a few sentences about your chosen topic. Whatever you write about belongs to you. It is your idea, your work and your creative effort. There are no rules when you journal. The only editor that you must argue with is the one inside of your own head. Congratulations you have just written your first journal entry.

I’m not a writer…
TRUE OR FALSE?
FALSE

Writing a journal entry requires willingness to make time to write a journal entry. It requires you to choose one topic for the entry. Then it requires you to paying attention to  your thoughts about the topic. Finally, it requires you to record those thoughts in written form. Congratulations. Now you have just written your second journal entry

I’m not inspired.
TRUE or FALSE?
FALSE
Writing a journal entry isn’t about creating the perfect sentence or paragraph. Focus on one topic. Identify your thoughts and feelings about that topic. Write a short paragraph describing those thoughts and feelings. That’s it. You’re done. You have a third journal entry!

I’m afraid that someone might read my journal.
TRUE or FALSE?
FALSE

Writing a journal entry requires some risk. At some point, someone may or may not read your journal without your permission. If that happens, it could be very upsetting.  What you can do now, is take to take precautions now. Store your journal in a safe but accessible location. Ask those living with you, not to read it, without asking your permission first. If someone does read your journal without your permission, you can face that person and resolve the situation. Then you can choose to keep on writing and find a new way to keep your journal entries safe.

Remember, you can always start over when you journal. You can always start a new blank book, piece of paper or computer file. Don’t let anyone elses’ unreasonable behavior ever completely stop you from writing another journal entry!

Your journal is your creation and your gift to yourself and to anyone with whom you choose to share it.

Remember you can always turn over a new page and start over again!!

Have you written your first journal post yet?
Please share it with me here  or at my blog.

I look forward to reading your posts.
